IKEGAMI BRINGS INNOVATION TO THE MIDDLE EAST

It is an undeniable fact that at this current time, the industry is in a state of change. The move from SDI to IP, HD to 4K or HDR, hardware to software – we are riding a wave that will change the future of the industry forever. It this change that pulsed through the show floor at CABSAT 2017.

Ikegami led the way in image quality technology, with the launch of its 8K ultra high definition television camera. Visitors to the stand were lucky enough to learn about how the 2/3” portable 8K camera utilises standard SMPTE hybrid camera cable between head and CCU with available portable and studio viewfinders.

Additionally, attendees were privy to the latest advancements of the impressive UHK-430 4K camera. It boasts Ikegami’s 5th generation high-speed video processing engine, the AXII, reduces power consumption and delivers a wide range of features. The AXII also provides the processing for Ikegami's newly developed transfer characteristic, which delivers high contrast for a wider dynamic range (HDR).

There was also a hive of excitement surrounding the first outing for Ikegami’s new half rack size base station, the BS-98. Recognising the industry trends that were on everybody’s lips at CABSAT 2017, the BS-98 offers a simultaneous high quality 4K ultra HD and 3G/ HD-SDI output when connected with a UnicamHD camera.

Demonstrations of the PF-531A ultra low-latency HD/SD digital microwave link also took place. The PF-531A is the latest high performance microwave link system from Ikegami based on the ARIB standard, employing OFDM & QAM modulation. The PF-531A is suitable for various applications, such as ENG and sports coverage, and point-to-point applications.

In addition, the RF head units achieve IPX level-4 for weatherproof and realise a semi-sealed structure. As a result, the PF-531A is engineered to operate in tropical weather conditions such as hot and high humidity environment or strong windy accompanied by rain showers and wind storms which is common in the Middle East region.

CABSAT 2017 was a great platform to showcase Ikegami’s cutting edge technology, and present to the Middle Eastern territories the advancements of its pioneering engineering team.
