Next-Generation High-Speed Video Processor

Ikegami Tsushinki Co. Ltd., (Ikegami) has developed a processing engine (AXII) for next-generation HD, 4K and 8K format cameras. This can perform high speed processing of HD, 4K (4 x HD) and 8K (16 x HD) super high-resolution video signals in various formats and frame rates. The new processor also (AXII) incorporates features and interfaces for camera systems. It delivers high quality, high reliability and lower power consumption. Ikegami will use the AXII processor as a platform to accelerate product development.

  • High Speed Signal Processing and Added-Value Features
  • DDR3 Configuration (16/32/48/64-bit Bus)
  • Low Power Consumption and High Reliability with "65nm Process"

Features

High Speed Signal Processing and Added-Value Features
Video processing is the core function of a camera's internal electronics. It controls each correction circuit and the interface to external units such as lens and viewfinder. High speed processing is needed to handle standards such as HD, 4K and 8K.

Built-in 16-Axis Color Correction
Chroma and hue level can be adjusted within 16-axes individually. both in normal programme production and to allow colour-matching with other cameras. This high-level correction can be processed in real time.

3D-LUT Colour Gamut Correction
The ITU-R BT.2020 standard for 4K/8K covers a wider area than BT.709 for HD. The new Ikegami processor conforms to ITU-R BT.2020 and provides colour gamut correction for various video formats with 3D-LUT system.

DDR3 Configuration (16/32/48/64-bit Bus)
Using DDR3 SDRAM, lens chromatic aberration and fixed noise correction features become available. Digital zoom, video frame rate conversion and viewfinder picture-in-picture are also supported.

Low Power Consumption and High Reliability with "65nm Process"
Camera system tasks such as video signal manipulation, shading correction lens aberration correction and interfacing between devices will be all integrated in the new processor. The "65nm Process" allows high performance, low-power consumption (40% lower than conventional model), lower operating temperature, and higher reliability.

Ikegami Cameras Processing Platform
The new processor will be implemented as the core of new-generation Ikegami broadcast and POV cameras, significantly reducing development time and thus ensuring prompt release of new products to the market.
